Gurugram Municipal Employees Fired for AI Fraud and GPS Spoofing

Four employees of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MCG) were terminated for serious misconduct involving AI-generated images and GPS spoofing. Assistant Sanitation Inspector Wasim used AI tools to create fake images of garbage clearance, while another inspector, Sonu, manipulated GPS data to falsely mark attendance. The investigations revealed that these actions misled authorities about the completion of civic duties. The MCG's digital monitoring systems detected these violations, prompting immediate action. The dismissed employees included two from the property tax department, Neeraj Vashisht and Ankur Arora, who also faced scrutiny for procedural violations. Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in public service. The incident serves as a warning against the misuse of technology in public administration.
