TCN Transfers Temporary Control Centre to NISO for Grid Management

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has officially handed over a temporary National Control Centre to the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to enhance electricity grid management. Located at the Gwagwalada 330kV Transmission Substation, the facility will serve as an operational base for NISO until the permanent centre is completed. TCN's Managing Director, Sule Abdulaziz, emphasized the importance of this handover for improving system reliability and service delivery in Nigeria. The facility is equipped with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Energy Management System (SCADA-EMS) technology, which is crucial for real-time monitoring of the national grid. NISO's Managing Director, Abdu Mohammed Bello, acknowledged the significance of this infrastructure for operational capacity. The project received support from the World Bank, highlighting international collaboration in Nigeria's power sector. The transition marks a new phase in national grid management and coordination.
