Hedera Network Exploit Results in $5.25 Million Theft via LayerZero Bridge On July 11, 2026, a suspected exploit on the Hedera network led to the theft of approximately $5.25 million in digital assets. The attacker utilized the LayerZero cross-chain bridge to transfer funds from Hedera to Ethereum, where they consolidated the stolen assets into a single wallet. Initial reports indicated that the attacker funded their wallet with 1 ETH from Tornado Cash before executing the exploit. The stolen assets included around 2,360 ETH and 15.58 Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC).
