A hacking accident occurred in a teacher group with workbooks such as "Gumon" and "Red Pen" and various businesses such as rental, support, and travel. Until now, it has not been confirmed whether personal information has been leaked, but as the number of members of the study site is significant, there is also concern the possibility of leakage of information for minors.

Kyowon Group said on the 12th, "We recognized the recent cyber infringement situation that is believed to be ransomware and immediately operated an emergency response system."

The teacher group implemented measures to separate internal networks and block access after checking for abnormal signs on some systems in the company around 8 a.m. on the 10th.

Currently, most of the affiliates that have suffered service disruptions due to ransomware infection include publishing company Teacher and Teacher Gumon, early childhood education institution Teacher Wiz, non-residential building rental company Teacher Property, mutual aid service company Teacher Life, travel company Teacher Tour (travel easy), health functional food manufacturer Teacher Healthcare, and warehouse company Teacher Start One.

Homepages such as teachers' red pens, Kumon learning websites, and travel destinations were blocked until around 11 a.m. on the same day, but were later restored sequentially.

The teacher group reported the infringement to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and related investigative agencies around 9 p.m. on the 10th, 13 hours after the accident was recognized. The cause of the accident and the degree of damage are being analyzed in cooperation with external security companies. KISA's report reportedly stated that there was a threatening act after the ransomware infection.

It has not yet been confirmed whether personal information has been leaked. "If the leakage of personal information is confirmed, we plan to quickly and transparently inform customers according to related laws and procedures and quickly prepare and support necessary protective measures," the teacher group said.

Currently, parents are concerned the leakage of underage children's names and addresses.

"We deeply apologize for causing concern to customers due to this accident," a teacher group official said. "Experts are currently being deployed to quickly recover and check data integrity, and we will do our best to prevent a recurrence in the future."
