ASD warns of Russian 'beserk bear' cyber attacks

The Australian Signals Directorate has joined with 12 international intelligence partners to issue a rare warning over a rise in attempts by hackers linked to Russia’s spy agency to hack key industries including financial services, energy, healthcare and government facilities.

The ASD – alongside the United States’ National Security Agency and other Five Eyes intelligence networks from the UK, Canada and New Zealand – said on Tuesday that groups linked to the Russian Federal Security Service’s Centre 16 are seeking to globally exploit poorly configured routers and vulnerable networking devices.
