Claroty Research Highlights Cyber Risks in Industrial Refrigeration Systems

Tipranks • August 10, 2026

According to a recent post from Claroty , the company’s Team82 research unit spotlighted cybersecurity risks in refrigeration controllers presented at DEF CON 34 in Las Vegas. The post describes research by vulnerability researcher Amir Zaltzman on serious issues in two widely used platforms from Danfoss and Copeland.

The post indicates that multiple vulnerabilities were identified in Danfoss AK-SM 800A controllers, including an authentication bypass that could permit code injection and operational disruption. It also notes that 23 vulnerabilities were found in Copeland XWEB Pro, with 21 characterized as high severity and potentially enabling unauthenticated root-level remote code execution.

According to the summary, these weaknesses could create attack paths that allow adversaries to manipulate refrigeration systems and silently spoil food or other temperature-sensitive contents. The research appears to position Claroty as an authority in operational technology and cyber-physical security, particularly in critical infrastructure and refrigeration environments.

For investors, this focus on previously underexplored cyber-physical attack surfaces may signal Claroty’s intent to expand its addressable market in industrial and critical infrastructure cybersecurity. Demonstrating advanced vulnerability research at a high-profile venue like DEF CON could enhance brand visibility, support customer acquisition among enterprises reliant on refrigeration systems, and potentially strengthen Claroty’s competitive standing in OT and CPS security.
