Connecting AI agents to external services through connectors significantly widens the attack surface by adding new sources of private data, untrusted content, and executable actions. PromptArmor research on OpenAI ChatGPT and Anthropic Claude connectors showed that 37 percent of 2,517 connectors changed in a six-week span, with 1,686 new tools added and many descriptions rewritten. Such rapid shifts can invalidate earlier security assumptions tool capabilities, write access, and destructive potential, as seen when a Dropbox connector grew from eight to 24 tools including new destructive ones.
