Back En.Sedaily Crypto Exchange Gopax Apologizes Days After Hacking Disclosure
Gopax, the cryptocurrency exchange criticized for offering little explanation after its hacking became public, unlike other financial firms, has belatedly apologized.
Gopax posted a notice on its website late in the afternoon on the 16th disclosing the personal data breach and the extent of the damage, according to financial industry sources on the 18th. The notice came two days after the Financial Services Commission announced the matter on the 14th. "We are informing you of the personal data breach and offer our deepest apologies," Gopax said.
The breach involved nicknames and login records of nine people in total — seven customers and two current and former employees — which were found to have been accessed externally. No cases have been confirmed so far of unauthorized withdrawals of customers' Korean won or cryptocurrency, or of asset losses. ▷See Page 9 of the Oct. 16 edition
