Tokenpost • November 1, 2026

Crypto security incidents generated $6.48 billion in reported losses across 56 major events in October 2026, a roughly 745% jump from September that was driven largely by a Binance incident.

October’s reported losses rose from $766.49 million in September 2026. The Binance event accounted for roughly $6.3 billion, making it the largest crypto security incident of 2026 to date. $3 billion in assets tied to the event had been frozen.

Bitget ranked second, at $387 million, followed by Liquid Network at $320 million. $285 million tied to the Liquid Network incident had been recovered. The figures do not provide a combined net-loss total after freezes and recoveries.

By Oct. 31, the 10 largest attacks of 2026 totaled $8.6 billion, or 92.3% of the year’s losses. That tally had not deducted frozen or recovered funds. Drift, KelpDAO/LayerZero and COLDCARD Wallet also ranked among the year’s top 10 attacks.
