Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer (CWE-119)

A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability in UTT HiPER 1250GW up to version 3.2.7-210907-180535 in the /goform/ConfigWirelessBase_5g web endpoint. The vulnerability exists in the handling of the ssid argument, which does not properly validate input length before writing to a stack buffer.

An authenticated remote attacker with low-level user privileges can trigger this vulnerability by sending a crafted HTTP request with an oversized ssid parameter, allowing them to execute arbitrary code on the device with the privileges of the web server process.

There is no evidence that a public proof-of-concept exists. There is no evidence of proof of exploitation at the moment.

Upgrade UTT HiPER 1250GW to a version after 3.2.7-210907-180535. In the interim, restrict network access to the web management interface to trusted administrative networks only, implement strict input validation on the /goform/ConfigWirelessBase_5g endpoint if possible, and monitor for suspicious configuration requests. Limit user accounts with access to wireless configuration to only those who require it.
