CVE-2026-71954 - Exploits & Severity

Feedly • August 9, 2026

Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') (CWE-78)

D-Link DWR-M961 devices with hardware version C1 and firmware version before 1.1.5_C1_202607071108 contain a command injection vulnerability in the /boafrm/formL2tpv3ConfigSetup interface. A remote attacker can inject arbitrary malicious commands into the tunnelid and sessionid fields, resulting in command execution with root privileges.

An unauthenticated attacker over the network can inject arbitrary commands into the tunnelid and sessionid fields to execute arbitrary commands with root privileges on the device.

There is no evidence that a public proof-of-concept exists. There is no evidence of proof of exploitation at the moment.

A patch is available in firmware version 1.1.5_C1_202607071108 and later.

Upgrade D-Link DWR-M961 devices to firmware version 1.1.5_C1_202607071108 or later. Restrict network access to the /boafrm/formL2tpv3ConfigSetup interface if immediate patching is not possible. Monitor for suspicious L2TPv3 configuration attempts.
