Cysic Cross-Chain Bridge Hacked; 10 Million CYS Unauthorizedly Minted on BNB Chain

Kucoin • October 18, 2026

[Cysic Cross-Chain Bridge Attacked; 10 Million CYS Unauthorizedly Minted on BNB Chain] Gold财经 reports that the Cysic Foundation announced a security incident on October 17, during which an attacker unauthorizedly minted 10 million CYS on the BNB Smart Chain. Upon detecting the anomaly, the project team immediately suspended the cross-chain bridge, implemented on-chain blacklisting of related addresses, and engaged a professional security firm to investigate the attack vector and fund movements. Preliminary investigations reveal that the attacker gained unauthorized access to the database supporting the cross-chain bridge service and exploited a vulnerability in the processing logic to submit forged minting messages. This incident only affected the message processing and minting functions of the cross-chain bridge; the Cysic mainnet and other operational systems remain unaffected, and existing user assets have not been compromised.

As of now, the relevant address still holds approximately 2.8 million CYS, which has been restricted from transfer. The project team has stated that the minting of 10 million CYS does not equate to the final dollar loss; the actual loss and subsequent fund tracking are still under review. The cross-chain bridge will be reopened only after completing the security audit.
