Japan's Dai-ichi Life Group and Dai-ichi Life Insurance detected unauthorized access to their shared employee HR system on Sept 24 and disclosed on Oct 2 that personal data may have been viewed and taken.

• ~50,000 current employees, ~70,000 former employees

• Office-staff records going back to 1967

• Employee IDs, names, addresses, phone numbers, gender, department, position, manager names

The companies say no access to customer data has been confirmed. The attack method has not been disclosed.

⚠️ Analyst Note: Decades of HR records with addresses and reporting lines are ideal fuel for targeted phishing, impersonation and social engineering against staff and retirees.
