AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The SC Department of Consumer Affairs (SCDCA) has released information regarding a data breach that could affect up to 100,000 South Carolinians.
The department released a letter signed by 700Credit, stating that they had become aware of suspicious activity in the web application and had immediately launched an investigation.
SCDCA said the breach was reported on December 15, 2025.
The letter stated the investigation was launched with the assistance of third-party computer forensic specialists to confirm the full nature and scope of the activity.
Sheriff Eugene Brantley created the Holiday Robbery Special Assignment Team in 2025 to address crime through a multi-level approach.
According to 700Credit, the investigation determined that certain records in the web application relating to customers of our dealership clients were copied without authorization.
The company then reviewed the potentially impacted records to determine what information was included in the records and to identify information for purposes of providing notifications. 700Credit confirmed that the review was recently concluded.
According to the SCDCA website, 108,829 SC residents are affected.
