As hacking incidents continue to affect domestic companies such as Coupang and KT, Kyowon Group, which has millions of members across multiple affiliates, has also fallen victim to a hacking attack.

According to the industry on January 11, Kyowon Group detected signs of an external cyberattack on the morning of the day, subsequently shut down its systems, and is currently working on recovery efforts.

As of 9 p.m. on this day, a service disruption notice stating, "Web services are not available due to an unexpected disruption," is posted on the websites of Kyowon Group and its affiliates, and the websites remain inaccessible.

A Kyowon Group representative stated, "We have confirmed signs of a breach," but added, "We are still investigating whether any personal information has been leaked."

The representative further announced, "We plan to release an official statement tomorrow morning."

Kyowon Group's affiliates include Kyowon Life (a funeral services company), Red Pen and Kyowon Kumon (educational materials and learning companies), as well as Kyowon Invest and Kyowon Travel, which operate rental and travel businesses, respectively.
