According to Cointelegraph, counterfeit phishing ads for the decentralized exchange protocol Uniswap appearing in Google searches have generated at least $400,000 in profits for attackers. Chain analyst b-block noted that the fraudulent websites are siphoning funds from multiple wallets, with the involved addresses currently holding a combined total of 146 ETH, worth approximately $306,000 as of press time. Security Alliance (SEAL) stated that such Google fake ads are a common source of phishing attacks, with attackers impersonating popular crypto protocols through paid advertising or by compromising legitimate ad accounts. SEAL also reported that between March 13 and March 30, such attacks resulted in total losses of $1.27 million.
