Fortinet FortiEndpoint enhances AI adoption security with new DLP and AI visibility features

Fortinet has announced new capabilities for its unified endpoint platform, FortiEndpoint, aimed at helping organizations manage AI adoption, protect sensitive data, and strengthen . The updates introduce , native , endpoint risk scoring, and AI-assisted security operations within the platform. The enhancements come as enterprises increasingly deploy AI-enabled applications and autonomous agents across business environments, creating new challenges around visibility, governance, data protection, and endpoint security. According to the company, the latest version of FortiEndpoint integrates endpoint protection, detection and response (EDR), secure remote access, data security, AI governance, and AI-assisted operations through a single management console and endpoint agent. It also integrates with the Fortinet Security Fabric, enabling endpoint telemetry and risk information to be shared with broader security controls. The update focuses on three areas: AI visibility and governance The platform provides centralized visibility into both sanctioned and unsanctioned AI applications, AI agents, and web-based AI tools running on endpoints. Security teams can monitor AI adoption, identify unmanaged or unauthorized tools, and detect shadow AI usage. Administrators can configure policies to allow, monitor, restrict, or block AI applications based on organizational security, compliance, and data protection requirements. Data protection for AI interactions FortiEndpoint now includes native data loss prevention (DLP) capabilities designed to inspect sensitive information exchanged with AI applications, agents, and web services. The platform can identify potential exposure of data such as personally identifiable information (PII), intellectual property, and financial information during AI interactions. The update also introduces real-time user guidance to help employees understand organizational AI usage policies and reduce risky behavior. AI-assisted security operations The platform incorporates FortiAI-Assist, enabling security teams to use natural language queries to investigate security events, generate investigation summaries, identify high-risk devices, visualize findings, and troubleshoot issues. It also provides contextual insights, policy recommendations, and risk guidance to support threat prioritization and security operations. In addition, FortiEndpoint includes adaptive zero-trust capabilities that continuously assess endpoint health, compliance status, and risk posture. These assessments can be used to adjust user access to AI applications and enterprise resources based on real-time risk levels. Chris DePuy, technology analyst at 650 Group, said organizations are increasingly seeking greater visibility into AI usage, stronger controls over approved and unapproved AI tools, protection against sensitive data leakage, and mechanisms to guide employees on responsible AI use. He noted that integrating these capabilities into an endpoint platform enables organizations to manage AI-related risks without deploying additional security tools.
