Frontier AI vulnerability research finds 140 Windows CVEs, but fixes remain the bottleneck
Microsoft says its FORGE Lab helped identify Windows vulnerabilities assigned 140 CVEs between May and September 2026, while submitting 155 validated reports across 23 open-source projects. One Linux report became the first Akrites-coordinated submission to produce a patch merged into the kernel. The results point to a practical limit for AI vulnerability research: finding bugs is only useful if teams can validate and fix them at scale. Source
