Hackers Claim Leaked Rosstat Data Shows 450,000 Russian Deaths

Kyivpost •TVP World • November 8, 2026

Hackers who targeted Russia’s state statistics agency claim leaked government records reveal up to 450,000 deaths linked to Moscow’s full-scale war in Ukraine since 2022.

Belarusian Cyberpartisans, an anti-Lukashenko hacker collective , and Silent Crow, a pro-Ukrainian hacker group targeting Russian institutions, said on Saturday that data allegedly stolen from Russia’s State Statistics Service (Rosstat) indicated between 394,000 and 450,000 deaths among people fighting on Russia’s side or otherwise linked to the war from February 2022 to August 2026.

The Belarusian group identified at least 393,881 deaths explicitly linked to military operations, while Silent Crow put the toll as high as 450,100 by also counting non-combat military deaths and certain cases with unspecified causes of death.

According to Silent Crow, annual deaths surged from around 19,000 in 2022 to over 182,000 in 2025, with most victims aged between 30 and 49.

Six deaths per square kilometer

Based on estimates from Ukrainian mapping project DeepState, Russia has captured roughly 73,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since launching its full-scale invasion.

According to Ukrainian news outlet The Kyiv Independent, comparing Russia’s territorial gains with Silent Crow’s upper estimate amounts to roughly six war-related deaths per square kilometer seized.

The authenticity of the leaked records and the hackers’ casualty estimates has not been independently verified.
