A U.S. senator wants ICE to explain why it bought a hacking tool that’s already been used to spy on more than 90 journalists and activists abroad. He’s asking whether the agency has turned it on Americans, and ICE has until Aug. 7 to answer.

The tool is called Graphite, built by Paragon Solutions and now owned by REDLattice, and ICE bought it through a sole-source deal with no competing bids.

Democratic Sen. Gary Peters of Michigan called the purchase “one of the most significant expansions of DHS and ICE’s surveillance ambitions to date” in a July 23 letter to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, first obtained by CBS News.

Peters isn’t accusing ICE of targeting Americans. He’s demanding the agency say whether it has, who it aimed the software at, where those people were, and what legal authority backed it. He also wants to know if the collected data was shared with other agencies, companies, or nonprofits.

“Misuse of Graphite is not hypothetical,” he wrote, pointing to reporting that the technology was used against more than 90 journalists and civil society members across several countries.

Peters said he’s “deeply troubled how Graphite might be used in the United States to target Americans,” citing ICE’s tracking of protests and social media posts protected by the First Amendment.

The contract traces back to a September 2024 agreement, an October 2024 stop-work order, and a reactivation in August 2025. His staff asked DHS for a briefing in December 2025 and ICE in January 2026 and says it never got a real answer.

Because Democrats don’t control Congress, Peters can’t force ICE to comply. He can only ask, and the deadline he set is Aug. 7.

A Florida man says he bit into a Burger King chicken wrap and discovered what he believes wasn’t chicken at all, describing a gummy, glistening texture that made him gag on camera. According to BroBible , the man, who posts as @hotrod_the_adliber, was eating the chain’s Honey Mustard Royal Crispy Wrap at a Florida location when he noticed something was off. He said he initially pulled on a piece of gummy fat with his teeth, then bit into meat he described as “gooey.” “I look at it, bro. Bro, it’s not even chicken meat,” he said. “It’s, like, a clear, glistening, gummy… texture. I’m, like, almost to throw up thinking it, too. And to show you that I’m not crazy, like, half of it was, like, chicken, the other half is, like, some gooey stuff.” When he showed the wrap to the camera, it revealed grayish, pinkish meat that he first assumed was undercooked. “And I’m looking, I’m like, ‘Is that raw? They really gave me raw chicken?’ That’s what I’m thinking,” he said. “But now that I… look at it, it’s not even chicken. I don’t know what it is.” Some viewers thought it might not be

There’s an old saying in business: don’t fall in love with the investment—fall in love with the numbers. Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal has built a fortune by following that rule , even when it meant walking away from a business that once looked like a winner. "You know we love pizza. I sold my Auntie Anne’s because Black people don’t like pretzels that much," O’Neal said on the " Earn Your Leisure " podcast in 2021. "So I had to switch it up." The drew laughs, but O’Neal wasn’t just delivering a punchline. He was explaining why he walked away from a franchise investment after realizing consumer demand wasn’t matching his expectations. Has anyone else ever headed out for a Friday night dinner, or packed the car for a weekend trip, and made sure to leave a living room lamp on before locking the front door? I did this every single time I left the house, thinking I was outsmarting the bad guys. But during a recent community safety seminar, a local security expert—who frequently interviews convicted burglars—revealed how this exact habit is actually putting a bullseye on our front doors.

We were three hours into our road trip to visit family when we pulled over at a busy highway rest stop to stretch our legs. I usually prefer using the larger "Family Restroom" so I have room to set my bags down without touching the wet floors.

Has anyone else come back from a dog walk, run your hand over your dog's fur, and felt a tiny hard bump that definitely wasn't there before?. That happened to me last week. I was checking my dog's neck after our usual walk, and my fingers stopped on a little pebble-like lump hidden under the fur. At first I thought it was a burr or a scab. Then I parted the hair and saw a swollen tick attached to the skin. My stomach dropped. I grabbed tweezers right away and was seconds from yanking it out the same way I would've pulled a splinter.
