Iranian drone attack damages Kuwaiti oil HQ, authorities confirm

Jpost • April 5, 2026

An Iranian drone attack caused a fire at the Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex, Kuwaiti authorities confirmed on Sunday morning.

The attack caused no casualties, the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The facility hosts both the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and the Oil Ministry's headquarters, KUNA noted.

Meanwhile, two power plants and water desalination facilities were damaged by "hostile Iranian aggression," Kuwait's government announced.

Two power generators were shut down with no casualties reported in this incident, the announcement noted.

Additionally, Bahrain's Bapco Energies said on Sunday that a tank caught fire at one of its storage facilities on Sunday after an Iranian attack, with no injuries reported.

The fire has been extinguished, and damage is being assessed, the company said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia intercepted an Iranian cruise missile launched towards the Gulf state on Sunday morning, Riyadh's Defense Ministry announced.

Abu Dhabi authorities responded to several fires at the Borouge petrochemicals plant, which were caused by falling debris from the UAE's air defenses intercepting Iranian attacks on the Emirates.

Operations were suspended while damage was assessed, with no injuries reported, the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced.

This is a developing story.
