Jammu and Kashmir: Truck Driver Arrested for Spying for ISI

Bhaskarenglish.In • September 20, 2026

A 24-year-old truck driver was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The accused, identified as Aman, allegedly installed a SIM-enabled CCTV camera outside his house. The camera was pointed towards a road frequently used by security forces, with the footage allegedly being streamed live to ISI handlers.

According to investigators, Aman was allegedly paid ₹20,000 to install the camera. The money was reportedly transferred through a Dubai-based channel.

Police are investigating the alleged espionage network to determine its extent and identify others who may be involved.

Another alleged ISI spy arrested in May

The latest arrest is reportedly the second case linked to an alleged ISI network involving digital surveillance to surface in Jammu and Kashmir in four months.

In May, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 23-year-old Karan Kumar from Makwal village in Jammu on similar espionage allegations.

According to police, Karan was allegedly contacted on Snapchat by a woman who claimed to be a BSF personnel posted in Punjab. She allegedly lured him through an obscene video call and obtained his mother’s WhatsApp OTP, which was allegedly used to hack the account.

Police alleged that the woman later asked Karan to send photographs of bunkers and flyovers. He was allegedly paid ₹2,000 in return.

The latest case is under investigation, with authorities probing the alleged links between the accused and their handlers.

What is Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI?

The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is Pakistan’s primary intelligence agency. It was established in 1948 and operates under Pakistan’s military establishment.

The agency is responsible for intelligence gathering and counter-intelligence activities related to Pakistan’s national security. It has also been accused by Indian authorities of supporting espionage and militant networks targeting India, allegations that Pakistan has repeatedly denied.
