Back Ng.Investing Maersk halts operations at Oman's Salalah port after security incident By Investing.com
Investing.com – Danish shipping giant AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) said it has temporarily suspended operations at Oman’s Port of Salalah following a security incident early Saturday that damaged a terminal crane and forced an evacuation of the facility.
The company said all crew are safe and accounted for, with no impact on vessels or cargo. Operations at the port are expected to remain halted for around 48 hours.
The disruption comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf, where recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran have rattled energy and shipping markets. The situation has already affected maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil and trade flows.
The halt at Salalah adds to growing concerns over supply chain disruptions in the region, as shipping firms navigate heightened security risks and potential delays across key routes.
