More organizations allegedly compromised by Clop ransomware gang

Cybernews reports that the UK's National Health Service, leading Japanese optical and imaging product manufacturer Canon, major Japanese multinational automaker Mazda, and its U.S. subsidiary, Mazda USA, were claimed to have been breached by the Clop ransomware operation .

Analysis of a sample of gigabytes of data purportedly pilfered from NHS revealed patient lists with diagnoses, insurance details, and other personally identifiable information, which could be used in social engineering, identity theft, and fraud attacks, according to Cybernews researchers. The NHS said that an investigation into Clop's claims is underway.

Meanwhile, no data samples from Mazda, Mazda USA, and Canon have been posted, potentially due to ongoing extortion efforts. While additional details on how the newly listed organizations have been compromised remain uncertain, Clop was recently reported to have exploited a critical Oracle E-Business Suite zero-day vulnerability to facilitate a widespread breach, which was confirmed to have impacted Envoy Air, Harvard University, and Chicago Public Schools.
