Cryptocurrency exchange GOPAX temporarily suspended cryptocurrency deposit and withdrawal services starting at 2:55 p.m. on the 6th and also halted trading services from 3:53 p.m., following a recent customer data leak and hacking incident. It decided to transfer all held cryptocurrencies to cold wallets (Cold Wallet) that are disconnected from the internet.
GOPAX said it took preemptive action to protect user assets after receiving a threatening email from a group claiming responsibility for the hack. With deposits and withdrawals suspended, cryptocurrency withdrawals have been halted on the web and the application (app). Customers who wish to withdraw must apply for withdrawal through the support center. Once a withdrawal request is received, it will be processed manually in sequence after internal verification and approval procedures. Due to the suspension of trading services, all existing open orders have been canceled.
GOPAX said in September that abnormal access occurred to some user accounts, leading to a leak of information belonging to seven customers and two current or former employees. Any link between the latest hacking threat email and the personal data leak has not yet been confirmed.
