Niger connects to Algerian fibre route to reduce digital isolation

Niger has officially launched a cross-border fibre-optic link with Algeria, providing the landlocked nation with another international network route to diversify its digital infrastructure, Ecofin reported. It connects northern Niger through the Agadez-Assamaka corridor, advancing bilateral telecom cooperation and forming part of the Trans-Saharan Fiber Optic Backbone linking North Africa to the Sahel.
