Parents are concerned the possibility that the names and addresses of young children may have been leaked due to a hacking accident in the teacher group, which focuses on educational projects such as Kumon Learning and Red Pen.

The teacher group is currently checking whether personal information has been leaked.

Kyowon Group announced on its website on the 12th, "We recognized the recent cyber infringement situation that is believed to be ransomware and immediately operated an emergency response system."

At 8 a.m. on the 10th, the teacher group checked some of the in-house systems for abnormal signs and implemented measures to separate the internal network and block access.

The teacher group is currently presuming an attack through an external network, and is undergoing system recovery and security checks.

Currently, some services such as Teacher, Kyowon Gumon, Kyowon Wiz, Kyowon Life, Kyowon Tour, and Kyowon Healthcare, which are affiliates of the standard teacher group, are not available.

The Kyowon Group said it reported the infringement to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and related investigative agencies immediately after the accident was recognized.

The teacher group is currently checking whether personal information has been leaked.

Although the investigation is currently underway, some observers say that the size could exceed 10 million if the actual information leakage is confirmed.

According to the Kumon Learning YouTube channel, the cumulative number of learners is 8.9 million when looking at the entire membership data of Kumon Learning from March 1990 to May last year. Accumulated learning subjects amount to 27.3 million.

On top of that, Kyowon Wells, which runs a appliance rental business, previously announced that it had 1 million cumulative accounts.
