Sydney, Australia – Telstra has brought back its intergalactic villains for the chapter of its network security campaign, with Bear Meets Eagle On Fire (BMEOF) and its partner agency +61 returning to highlight how the telco helps Australians stay safer online.

The campaign follows space emperor Steve Buscemi and his band of evil aliens as they attempt another cyber attack, only to have their plans foiled by Telstra’s network security.

The latest work builds on the original campaign while using humour and storytelling to communicate Telstra’s role in protecting customers from cyber threats.

The campaign is an approach to highlight Telstra’s proactive protection, blocking millions of scam calls and texts every month against a backdrop of Australians reporting over A$2 billion in scam losses last year.

Directed by Randy Krallman of SMUGGLER, the campaign comprises several individual narratives across multiple formats, rolling out across TV, digital, social, cinema and Telstra stores.

Alita McMenamin, Telstra Head of Brand and Marketing Communications , explained: “Great villains always come back for a sequel. The second chapter of this campaign takes what Australians loved the original and raises the stakes, using humour and storytelling to bring an important message to life: helping Australians stay safer online.”

Micah Walker, Chief Creative Officer of BMEOF , noted: “I’m really proud of this. I think we’ve managed to take some learnings from last time and make something even better. Massive cheers to the whole village it took to bring this all to life.”

The campaign continues Telstra and BMEOF’s use of the returning space villains to make network security a more accessible topic, with the latest instalment expanding the campaign across a broader range of formats and touchpoints.
