The second sanctions package targets 29 civilian commercial vessels that Russia is believed to use for transporting weapons, ammunition, military equipment and personnel.
Most of the vessels are already under sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
“Sanctions are a tool for systematically limiting Russia’s ability to wage war. One of today’s packages highlights the channels used to supply weapons to the Russian army. The other personally targets those who give orders and carry out missile terror against Ukrainian cities,” Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian president’s commissioner for sanctions policy, said. “This is increasing the cost of aggression for Russia.”
