Maharashtra Youths Trapped in Thailand-Myanmar Cyber Scam Camps

At least 25 men from Maharashtra, including eight from Nashik, have been trapped by an international cyber fraud network operating near the Thailand-Myanmar border after being lured with fake job offers. Families of the victims have appealed for government intervention to secure their release. One victim, a 30-year-old from Nashik, reported being held captive since April 25 and described inhumane conditions, including forced labor for up to 18 hours a day and torture for non-compliance. The captors demand a ransom of Rs 8 lakh for their release. Victims are allegedly forced to create fake online profiles to deceive others into cryptocurrency scams. The Maharashtra Disaster Management Minister has been informed, and efforts are underway to rescue the trapped individuals. Reports suggest that over 400 Indians may be held in similar camps across the region.
