Angola's National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) and Anyconnect have partnered with Unitel to connect the Conecta Angola satellite internet hub to the 2Africa submarine cable. This initiative aims to increase the capacity for internet traffic, particularly benefiting remote areas where traditional networks are lacking. The integration allows traffic from VSAT terminals to be routed through ANGOSAT-2 to national and international networks. The project is part of a broader digitalization program backed by the World Bank, expected to reach over 13 million people. The 2Africa cable, spanning approximately 45,000 kilometers and connecting more than 30 countries, will enhance the resilience and scalability of internet services in Angola. This partnership is expected to foster growth for local startups and improve access to digital opportunities.
