The Council of Europe's 'Hack the Hate, Renew Democracy 2026' event concluded today, with Britain's Quorum winning for their MOSAIC tool, which allows survivors of online abuse to submit anonymous reports processed on-device. The event, held from June 17-19, aimed to address hate speech and discrimination through innovative digital solutions. Other finalists included Bulle from France, which counters online echo chambers, and AgnoSpeech from Moldova, a privacy-protection tool for hate speech analysis. The hackathon featured 20 teams from 28 countries, with a focus on strengthening democratic foundations and addressing digital challenges. Secretary General Alain Berset emphasized the importance of rebuilding democratic discourse to combat hate. The event is part of a broader initiative for a New Democratic Pact for Europe.
