Broadcom targets over 50% adoption of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 by late 2027, leveraging AI models like Anthropic's Mythos to accelerate vulnerability discovery and patching. Ram Velaga, president of Broadcom’s Infrastructure Software Group, emphasized that the transition is measured by processor cores rather than customer numbers to avoid inflated claims. VCF 9 allows IT teams to patch and upgrade without downtime, addressing previous customer concerns about the transition from older versions. The company is also promoting virtual patching as a temporary measure for vulnerabilities. Following Broadcom's acquisition of VMware, which included significant restructuring and price increases, 70% of VMware's largest customers have migrated to VCF. The introduction of AI features in VCF 9.1, including enhanced security controls and private AI services, is expected to further drive adoption as older versions approach end-of-support in October 2027.
