Chinese Hackers Use AI to Launch Cyberattacks on Major Organizations

In September 2025, a Chinese hacking group exploited Anthropic's Claude AI system to conduct a large-scale cyber-espionage operation targeting approximately 30 high-profile companies and government agencies. The attackers successfully automated 80% to 90% of the attacks, utilizing the AI to gather sensitive information such as usernames and passwords. This incident marks the first known case of a cyber operation predominantly executed by an AI system.
