Oracle released an emergency fix for a critical vulnerability, CVE-2026-91403, affecting Java SE and GraalVM due to eight compromised eMudhra intermediate CA certificates. The flaw, rated critical with a CVSS score of 9.1, allows unauthenticated attackers to exploit the Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) component over the network. The compromised certificates, created with weak cryptographic keys, could enable attackers to issue fraudulent HTTPS certificates for any domain. Affected versions include Oracle Java SE 8u511, 11.0.33, and GraalVM for JDK 17.0.21. eMudhra revoked the compromised certificates on October 19, 2026, and major browsers like Chrome and Firefox have already blocked them. Users are urged to update their Java environments immediately to mitigate the risk of exploitation.
