A recent report by VikingCloud indicates that 86% of distributed enterprises faced cyberattacks in the past year, with 77% of these attacks spreading beyond their initial point. The research highlights that companies with franchised locations are particularly vulnerable, as attacks spread in 89% of cases where no unified security standard is enforced. Only 51% of organizations enforce a single security policy across all locations. Despite this, 83% of cybersecurity leaders express confidence in their security posture. The report also notes that 80% of enterprises fail to fully integrate new locations into cybersecurity monitoring by opening day, leaving them exposed. Ransomware and AI-generated attacks are on the rise, with 88% of respondents reporting increased severity or frequency of ransomware incidents. The findings emphasize the need for stronger governance to mitigate risks.
