Digdir Faces Major DDoS Attack Impacting Public Services

Digitaliseringsdirektoratet (Digdir) has been subjected to a significant DDoS attack starting at 03:38 on August 24, 2026. The attack has affected ten services, including ID-porten, MinID, Altinn, and E-innsyn. Although Digdir has stabilized many of its services, some are still experiencing disruptions. This incident marks the third and largest DDoS attack on Digdir since June 2026. Director Frode Danielsen confirmed that there are no indications of data breaches or compromised personal information. The National Security Authority (NSM) stated that such attacks are part of the normal landscape but can disrupt critical services. Digdir is working closely with its subcontractor Vivicta and has notified NSM and Datatilsynet. The attack is speculated to be an attempt to undermine public trust in government services.
