The European Union has confirmed that Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Friedman will not be re-added to the sanctions list in the near future, according to EU High Representative Kaja Kallas. Kallas stated that restoring sanctions against these individuals is not currently on the agenda. The EU is, however, working on approximately 1,600 new additions to its sanctions lists. Kallas emphasized that member states can propose names for sanctions, but final decisions are made collectively. Recently, Lithuania imposed national sanctions against Usmanov and Friedman, while Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga criticized the EU's decision to lift sanctions on them. Kallas also mentioned that 2,998 entries on the sanctions lists will remain effective for three years, eliminating the need for semi-annual reviews.
