India and Myanmar have engaged in discussions regarding the increasing threat of cyber scam networks operating in Myanmar, particularly affecting Indian nationals. Over the past 18 months, 2,411 Indian citizens have been repatriated from these scam compounds, with approximately 150 still believed to be trapped. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the need for enhanced regional cooperation, as many victims are trafficked through third countries. The issue was addressed during a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing. The MEA emphasized the importance of bilateral and regional efforts to tackle this security concern.
