A 31-year-old Indian Navy sailor, Pradeep Mukherjee, was arrested in Coimbatore for leaking sensitive defence information to a female Pakistani intelligence operative who lured him into a honeytrap. Mukherjee, who was attending a management course at INS Agrani, fell victim to an online scheme initiated months prior via social media. The Counter Intelligence Cell of Andhra Pradesh police monitored his activities after detecting suspicious digital footprints. Following confirmation of his role in transmitting classified information, authorities secured clearance from naval officials for his arrest. Investigations are ongoing to assess the nature and volume of the compromised information and any financial transactions linked to Mukherjee. He is currently in custody for further interrogation.
