Kenya has launched the LuLu Coastal Cable System, its first fully protected coastal submarine cable network, designed to enhance digital infrastructure along its coastline. Developed by a consortium including INDOI Ltd and Blue Trade Investments, the system will connect five landing points and aims for a capacity of 60 terabits per second, expected to be operational by Q2 2028. Meanwhile, SGI is proposing a 6,870-kilometer subsea cable system across Indonesia, intended to boost connectivity among its islands and support the growing digital economy. This project, targeting a late 2028 completion, will connect 14 cable landing stations and has an initial capacity of 25 terabits per second. Both projects are crucial for enhancing regional digital infrastructure and supporting various applications including cloud services and data centers.
