Lithuanian Hacker Extradited for Stealing 1.7 Billion Won in Virtual Assets

A 29-year-old Lithuanian hacker was extradited and detained by South Korean authorities for stealing approximately 1.7 billion won ($1.8 million) in digital assets. The suspect distributed malware disguised as an illegal Windows activation program, which redirected cryptocurrency transactions to his own wallets over a period spanning from April 2020 to January 2023. The operation affected users primarily in South Korea.
