In response to increasing drone attacks, particularly one on April 16 by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), police in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have installed fishing nets at security outposts. The nets, designed to catch drones and mitigate explosive damage, have reportedly prevented further attacks since their installation two months ago. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police noted a significant rise in violence, with 173 incidents leading to 556 deaths in the province during the third quarter of 2026, contributing to a national total of 1,415 fatalities. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounted for 98% of these deaths, highlighting the escalating security crisis in Pakistan. The police are seeking additional funding to expand the netting program to other vulnerable districts.
