Singapore to Enforce Higher Security Standards for Home Routers by 2027

Singapore's Cyber Security Agency (CSA) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will upgrade the mandatory cybersecurity requirements for residential routers from Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme Level 1 to Level 2 by the end of 2027. This decision follows the discovery of 2,700 infected devices in Singapore linked to a global botnet, addressing vulnerabilities in encryption and authentication. The new standards aim to enhance protection against sophisticated cyberattacks.
