Synology has launched ActiveProtect Manager 2.0 (APM 2.0), a significant update to its data protection appliances. This version introduces expanded platform support for services like Amazon EC2, Azure VM, Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV, and Google Workspace. It enhances cross-platform recovery capabilities, allowing seamless backup and restoration across different environments. The update includes software-based storage encryption to secure data at rest and prepares for future AI-driven threat mitigation features. APM 2.1 is expected to introduce AI/ML anomaly detection and malware scanning before restoration. This update aims to streamline backup infrastructure management and improve recovery times. ActiveProtect Manager 2.0 is available for all DP Series appliances.
