Tor has transitioned to a new encryption algorithm called Counter Galois Onion (CGO) to improve the security of its circuit traffic. This change aims to bolster defenses against modern traffic-interception attacks, thereby enhancing user anonymity on the Tor network. The new algorithm replaces the older tor1 relay encryption and is expected to support future cryptographic advancements.
