The pilot program successfully transitioned over 300,000 users to this system, with nearly 10% of daily logins now utilizing passkeys. This change aims to enhance security by reducing phishing risks, as passkeys are device-specific and cannot be reused. The National Cyber Security Centre endorses this method as a more secure alternative to passwords, which are often targeted by cybercriminals. Digital Government Minister Stephanie Peacock emphasized the convenience and security benefits of this new login method.
