Xairos Systems has successfully completed a two-kilometer free-space demonstration of its Ares Quantum Optical Terminal, designed for quantum-secure communications and resilient position, navigation, and timing (PNT) in environments without GPS or RF signals. The testing, compliant with Space Development Agency standards, established simultaneous quantum and optical links, marking a significant step toward operational deployment. The Ares terminal integrates 10 Gbps optical communications, entangled photon distribution, and Quantum Time Transfer (QTT) technology, all within a compact, ruggedized system. This advancement aims to enhance capabilities for government customers, particularly in protecting critical national infrastructure and supporting military operations. The technology is intended for use in contested environments, including applications for aircraft, uncrewed aerial systems, and ships.
