Plex Media Server is a client–server media streaming platform that runs on a host to serve media to Plex clients. It exposes a management UI and remote-access features, which—when misconfigured or exposed publicly—can create attack surfaces through insecure remote access, exposed dashboards, or vulnerable plugins. In cybersecurity, Plex is significant as a widely deployed home/small‑business platform that can become an attacker foothold if not properly secured.
