Australian furniture giant Nick Scali is investigating a cyberattack which forced the $1.4 billion business to take some of its systems offline.

The company said in a statement it does not have any evidence of unauthorised access to customer data.

“In light of the incident, we made the decision to take certain systems offline,” a spokesperson said.

“Work is now well advanced to bring those systems back online.

“We are continuing to complete sales orders and deliveries.

“However, our response times to customers are currently slower than normal, for which we apologise.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience during this time.”

The company, which has 132 stores worldwide, said it has notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Australian Federal Police .

“We are continuing to investigate and will provide the most up-to-date information to customers through our dedicated webpage,” a spokesperson said.

“We can confirm that Nick Scali does not store customer credit card details on its systems.

“Card payments are processed through a secure third-party payment provider.

“As a result, customer credit card details cannot have been compromised as part of this incident.”

The company is the latest in a string of Australian organisations to be affected by cyber incidents.

Australian telehealth provider Updoc was hit by data breach early in August .

The healthcare platform confirmed some information of customers had been exposed after “a brief period of unauthorised access to a third-party system that we use to support our operations”.

Last month, Origin Energy confirmed the personal information of some of its customers was stolen in a suspected cyber hack .

It is understood the incident impacted 900,000 past and present customers.
